The present day St. Mary’s Church was built in 1968 and won an award that year for it architectural design.  In 1982, the entire exterior brickwork needed to be replaced and this work was done by the parishioners themselves.  This is the third St. Mary’s Church:  Mass was offered in private homes prior to 1845 when the first building, an old Presbyterian Church, was bought and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin.  In 1886, a Methodist Church was purchased and again, rededicated.

St. Cecilia’s Church of present day was build in 1957 during the time of the St. Lawrence Seaway construction when the entire Village of Iroquois was moved.  St. Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians.  Mass was first offered in 1882 in Iroquois every second Sunday  until, in 1885, an Episcopalian Methodist Church was purchased and dedicated to St. Cecilia.  By 1906, this building was considered unsafe and Mass was celebrated in a rented Hall.  In 1917, a small frame church was built and used until the completion of the Seaway.
